Imagine A World Without Cancer

On a cold March morning 3 years ago, I walked into a doctors office in Richmond Hill, NY with my dad and the doctor read off the results on a CT Scan that my dad did just 48 hours prior. I am sorry but you need to go see a Pulmonologist  as all signs are pointing to Lung Cancer said Dr. Singh to us. These are the words that no one ever wants to hear. The word Cancer to me just was Death Sentence.

A week later we went to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and that is where our feeling of dread turned into optimism. The doctors and nurses at MSKCC assured us that everything is going to be fine and that we will battle this disease and win. My dad has battled Small Cell and Non Small Cell Lung Cancer for the last 3 years and continues to fight on and be strong. From dozens of rounds of chemo and radiation and having a partial section of his lung removed he continues to fight and not give up.

As a way for me to cope I took up running and what started as an after work activity turned into a strong passion and for the first time I am going to run a full marathon. That is 26.2 miles and I am running for Fred's Team which is the athletic branch of MSKCC charities. My goal is to raise $3,500 and I am asking for your support!
